Davidson (Mecklenburg County)

Town History: Davidson was founded in 1837 with the establishment of the Presbyterian Davidson College, name for Brigadier General William Lee Davidson, a local Revolutionary War hero in Mecklenburg County.

Interstate Access: Davidson is easily accessed via I-77, exit 30. The western side of Davidson features Lake Norman. The larger portion of Davidson is located on the eastern side of the interstate. The eastern side features Main Street, Davidson College, Lake Davidson, as well as the popular golf community River Run.

Population: Over 9,000 people reside in Davidson.

Davidson College: Davidson College, the town's principal employer, continues to have a strong influence in the community. It is recognized as one of the leading four-year liberal arts institutions in the country.
